Most people who train with us at rb5 Nottingham know the importance of selecting the right cooking oil, so below we have listed a variety of cooking oils best used at certain temperatures. Salad dressings, condiments and drinks. (Do not heat)

  • Flaxseed Oil
  • Hemp Seed

Low Heat cooking 100 C

  • Pumpkin Seed

Medium Heat cooking 160C

  • Extra Virgin olive oil

High Heat cooking 190C

  • Avocado Oil
  • Coconut Oil

These are just a selection of cooking oils that can be used, rb5 do not recommend sunflower oil due to its poor structure and extremely low cooking temperature. The danger with cooking with poor quality oil at a high temperature is the structure will break down rapidly and turn into a TRANS fat which can be found in most fast food places (which isn’t good thing for health and weight loss).   The reason for having a wide selection of cooking oils in our diet is to provide your body with a variety of different forms of mono and poly saturated fats, which will provide your body with the essential energy it needs when on a low carbohydrate diet for Weight loss.   Top tip if unsure place two pans side by side and set the temperatures the same on both and poor a little sunflower oil in one and coconut in the other and see which disintegrates first.
