Laurence Clemente:

My name is Laurence Clemente, I am a personal trainer, a competitive athlete and a busy dad!

I am very passionate about helping people lead happier lives, and I have chosen to do so through the medium of fitness and nutrition. I believe in a completely holistic approach to this and I know, from my own experience, that life is far more fun when we live it with a clear, happy mind and a strong, healthy body.

Laurence's transformation

Me at 24 (on the left, blue shorts) Vs. me now at 36. I used to spend MORE time in the gym at 24 than I do now…

To better explain this concept, here is a little of my own personal story…

In the past, like most people, I have felt completely at loss as to how to change my body-image, and really improve my fitness.

As a teenager I used to love playing sports, especially martial arts, and kept fit that way.

I used to love being able to go around without my top on (I lived in Italy and Spain for many of my younger years so the weather allowed it!) feeling comfortable with the way I looked.

As it happens little by little life crept up on me and all of a sudden I found myself being this twenty-something year old smoker who loved a little too many drinks and was out of shape.

At that time I was working as a tour operator, the classic 9 to 5 desk job where I’d be sometimes too busy  to remember to have lunch and too tired to drink anything but coffee.

Yet I still somehow found the energy to go to the gym 4-5 times per week, putting all my might in grueling spinning classes and pumping the weights on all the shiny machines, even so I never really saw any difference…for years.

I began to feel REALLY unhappy, perhaps even more than I was prepared to admit to myself.

It felt like I was never going to be able to regain the fitness of my earlier years and started to dread going on my summer holiday to visit my parents who lived in Italy. Wearing a t-shirt all day in the hot Italian summer wasn’t pleasant…but feeling self-conscious was worse.

My self-esteem crumbled…

Soon many aspects of my life, especially my relationships, began to suffer as a result of my lowered self esteem.

To make things worse, in the winter of 2004, I was made redundant. Shortly after I began having problems with my long-term girlfriend and we eventually broke up…

I had reached the bottom.

Luckily I convinced myself the only way from there was up.

I became determined to find a way to get into the shape I so wanted to be, but I had consistently failed trying to followed the confusing advice that came from magazines and gym instructors that I saw the only solution was to take the matter into my own hands and to start studying to become a personal trainer.

“Hell”, I told myself, “I might as well since I have no have job!!”

So I gave up the cigarettes, the drinks and the sulking and embarked on a whole new journey.

Did it work?

Well, fast forwards almost 10 years, after hundreds of hours spent studying, training myself and dozens of other people…

I am now the owner of my own personal training company, the head coach of Kettlebell Nottingham, the city’s very own kettlebell lifting club. I regularly take part in Kettlebell lifting competitions and have represented England at the 2014 World championship, winning a bronze medal.

I honestly can say I am far fitter and stronger now than I ever was in my twenties. I am also, more importantly, happily married and  the very proud dad of two beautiful girls.

My greatest desire now is to share with as many people as possible the knowledge I have collected through my studies, my own personal journey, and journeys of all the people who have been and still are my clients.

I truly  believe that when more and more people become aware of the importance of taking care of oneself on a physical and emotional level the world will become a much better place.

If you need my help all you need to do is get in touch! I will guide you every step of the way towards your goals.
